ADMIRAL FITZROY BAROMETER

ADMIRAL FITZROY (1805-1865) WAS CAPTAIN OF 'HMS BEAGLE' THAT TOOK CHARLES DARWIN TO PATAGONIA. HOWEVER FOLLOWING HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE GOVERNORSHIP OF NEW-ZEALAND, HE TURNED HIS ATTENTION TO METEOROLOGY AND INVENTED HIS BAROMETER. THIS ONE HAS PAPER SCALES WITH EXPLANATION ON THE BACK, A ALCOHOL THERMOMETER (FAHRENHEIT) AND A STORM GLASS, ALL BEHIND GLASS. 117CM HIGH AND 20CM WIDE.
