The obstetric vectris, c 1780, with a ebony handle and a steel blade. The vectris is special form of hook with an ovoid fenestrated blade to be applied to the infant’s haed. It has 3 purposes: to be used as a lever, or as a tractor hooked either over the head or under the chin. Length 36 cm
