Leech carrier, Pewter, 18th century

A French pewter leech carrier, (Pot Sangsues), circa 1780. The doctors used this carrier by the patient rounds. The lid is perforated so as to allow the leeches to breathe. In good condition, diameter 8,5 cm and 13,5 cm high.
