Ajax-dry quackery electric belt, Circa 1920
On application
A Quackry medical device, Â sturdy silk belt some 10 cm wide hosting 3 electrodes, 2 batteries and a small rheostat to control the power being administered. On the outside of the belt can just be discerned the name “AJAX DRY=OXIDE”. The belt has obviously seen some use and there is some superficial deterioration of the metal surfaces but the overall condition is good and the belt would make a fine addition to any collection of quackery. The engraving is from an advert for a similar belt illustrating the very desirable manliness which can be achieved by employing the device!
