A ‘ebullioscope’ is an instrument for observing the boiling point of liquids, especially for determining the alcoholic strength of a mixture by the temperature at which it boils. Signed by “Ebullioscope – F. Malligand Fils a Paris – Brevete S.G.D.G.”. It is made almost completely of brass, bar the glass mercurythermometer and the glass testing tube. The instrument is 43cm high and goes with a original wooden box, 20 x 26 x 11cm, mounted with brass fittings.
