Lithotrite by Mathieu a Paris C 1860/70

A circa 1860-70 blue steel and gilded metal lithotrites in very good and working condition by Mathieu a Paris. It is referred to in Harold Thompson’s 1863 paper on Lithotomy and Lithotrity as “The modern French Screw lithotrite”. The particular advantage of this instrument was the ability to apply crushing force on a stone using both a screw mechanisms by ebony handle, and also by percussion. Length 37 cm.
