Bronze Mortar and Pestle, 17th C

A French bronze mortar and pestle reflect a form common to the early 17th century. The mortar was formed with a flared rim that displays raised, beaded details, and slightly extended base. The body displays raised vertical, 2 handles and 2 ridged bars alternating with mascarons, surrounding the piece. The Petzel is original to the Mortar. Diameter 12 cm & 8 cm high.
