Dr. Auzoux heart model, c 1890
Sold
Louis thomas auzoux was a french medical doctor who added papier-mache to the modelling process of anatomical models. Auzoux set up a workshop in his home town of saint aubin d’ecrosville in 1827. His newly invented moulding techniques allowed him to re-produce his models. One of these works is our life-size heartmodel, modelled from papier-mache. Polychrome handpainted with egg-tempura and a finish with russian fish varnish. It has erosion due to time but is complete with parts and the original paper labels in latin.
