An english medicine chest with original bottles and scale, c 1860. Medicine chests were popular with the upper classes throughout the 19th c. As a means to treat everyday ailments rather than having to the expense of calling in the local doctor. They always accompanied the familie and were therefore designed for travel. This medicine chest has 4 of the original free blown bottles, under the top. The chest, with brass sunken handle on top, is in a mint condition and about 150 years old. The measurements are 25 x 9 x 19cm.
