Cupping set
On application
Bloodletting must have been one of the most common domnestic medical proceedures in the 18th and throughout the 19th century. The ‘cupping sets’ were made in all possible sorts and sizes. This particular one has a mahogany case/box, with brass details. It’s contents are: six freeblown clear cupping glasses, a twelve-blade scarificator and a smaller four blade. A pewter spiritburner and two bottles for alum (to stop the bleeding), and alcohol. The box is 26 x 16 x 11cm and has beautifull faded green velvet lining.
