An archimedes drill c 1800 wasn’t used for excavation of caries but for make holes in bone and ivory for pivots and posts. But this invention was important as it provided the necesarry imppetus for other methodsthe handles are from ebony. The gyroscope mechanism and the drill were made from steal. 14,5 cm long. This instrument is exposed in boerhaave museum, leiden.
