This device was designed to demonstrate / showing the ability of the electrical spark to start a fire in a flammable substance. The ether is held in the glass cup, a spark ( from a leyden jar) through the ‘discharger’ jumps into the cup. The demonstration can also be done with alcohol. There is no maker’s name but with a original label on the bottom in a east-european language. Glass stand on a wooden base diam10.5cm, 30cm height. Small chip at the ether cup.
