Early decorative saw, C 1600
Sold
An nice early decorative  saw  It is a late Renaissance, probably Germany, one and I will date it at round 1600. It is a unique museum piece what is made of steel, The blade is etched with masks and foliage, fire-gilded decorative items as there is a rose by the sawblade joint, and a handle with ebony, fire-gilding urn on the end. ( the fire-gilding was forbidden in 1830).  Length 32 cm
By my research I find one in science museum in London, Spanish one but younger http://collection.sciencemuseum.org.uk/objects/co165339/bow-frame-amputation-saw-spain-1601-1700-amputation-saw and http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O380091/saw-unknown/
