Two earthenware retorts that a work in Alchemy and early chemistry used earthenware vessel consisting of a spherical flask with a long spout, which is more than 90 degrees and so was reversed to a lower mouth ran. The retort was used for distillation: in the spout condensing vapour walked to the mouth the barrel out.
