A steel trocar with finely turned ebony with ivory ring casing and 3 silver cannulaes.
These would have been used where fluid needed to be aspirated or drained from a body cavity. For example from the peritoneum in ascites, or from a pleural effusion, or a nasal antrum in chronic sinusitis.
