English neurosurgery outfit, 18th century

English century neuro surgical set in original state of the mid-18th century. The trephination set signed on the scalpel and the sharp double-jaws cranium forceps with a crowned and star. The trephination set contains polished steel tools with turned handles of beautifully grained tropical hardwood. Included are two cutting trephines of different diameters, each with central pin and mounted with large boldly shaped wooden handles, a key for removing the central pins of the trephines made of brass and wood, an arrowhead perforator, a Samuel Sharp double-jawed cranium forceps, an elevator raspatory, a tripod supporting articulated elevator raspatory two lenticulars, two lenticulars and large scalpel . Missing is a little brush.
The set is cased in its original fitted wooden case covered in black fish skin and lined in red velvet. The cases is elegantly decorated with brass handles, escutcheon, handle plate, latches and hinges.
