Gundlach Poey butterfly display, C 1890

This is a good example of a Victorian scientific display of Butterflies which dates from around end 19th Century. The display includes 15 butterfly of the Familiy of the Gundlach butterfly, 8 male and 7 female. It is in its original glass faced deep display drawer. The specimens are in excellent condition and make a fascinating item for the wall. This is one of three similar cases we have currently listed. measuring 40 x 30 x 6 cm.
Juan Cristóbal Gundlach (17 July 1810 in Marburg – 14 March 1896 in Havana), born Johannes Christoph Gundlach was a Cuban naturalist and taxonomist.
