shagreen and silver-mounted surgical instrument case
Sold
A very nice mid/end 17th century shagreen and silver-mounted surgical instrument case  with lid and drawer. The case is covered in shagreen and embellished with elaborately cut and engraved silver clasp and hinges.  Inside, the box and drawer, it is lined with red leather. In my opinion in top condition without instruments.  Measurements are 17 x 6 x 6 cm.
There is such a unique surgical instrument case in the collection of The Royal College of Surgeons and Wellcome Museum London. It is illustrated by a picture in Bennion op page 62.
