silver ear tubes by Vibraphone

A pair of solid silver ear tubes by Vibraphone dating to the early 20th century.These tubes were placed in either ear to aid hearing and effectively acted as stents to keep the ear canal open. This may have been of some benefit in patient with a narrow external auditory meatus but were probably not that effective for general use.They come in their original purple velvet lined case which is marked ‘European Vibraphone Co, Triumph House, 189-191, Regent st. London W.1 Date 1920-1930
